2012 International Pike Championship's

It's amazing how the time has just flown by. In just 7 days time the British Squad will be wending their way to Co Monaghan to take part in this years International. The entire squad will be travelling from Stoke-On-Trent by coach, so there will be plenty of time for a ball to be had by one and all on their way to and from the Emerald shores.
Best wishes to those taking part in the two days of intense competition; as Britain attempt to retain the trophy won in Peterborough last year.
Full details to follow.

Team Selection Final

Just a couple of weeks to go now, but still time to enter if you fancy a crack at representing Great Britain in Ireland next October. See the post below for details.

Monday, 8 August 2011

This years Team Selection Final will take place over the weekend of 10th/11th of September on the waters of the Lincolnshire Fens.

This is a completely new area for us, but one which we know holds a good head of prey fish and numbers of predators; and we are earnestly looking forward to some excellent fishing over the weekend. Our chosen base for the Selection Final will be the New England Hotel at Boston where we have negotiated a special price of £35 per person per night, based on two sharing. The hotel has a great reputation for the quality of its meals, so enjoy! If our chosen hotel is full, then there are a great many other hotels, guest houses, & B&B Houses within the area. A full list of these can be e-mailed to you.

Registration will be held in the car park of the Hotel on Saturday from 7.30am where entry fees will be collected, weigh cards issued and scales checked for accuracy. Fishing is expected to commence by no later than 10.30am with the match finishing at 4..30pm at the very latest. Meet back at the hotel after the day's fishing where the results will be posted as quickly as possible.

Entry for this years event is £40, inclusive of day tickets for both days, BPS admin fee and pools which will be paid out to the top 3 placed anglers for each day, with a cash prize for the captor of the largest pike overall, most pike overall, plus the smallest Pike overall. Please Note that ALL CHEQUES MUST be sent to our treasurers, by the end of July. Entries received after this date, especially those who wish to pay on the day will be charged £45. So pay early to save yourself that extra Fiver!

As usual we shall be holding a raffle to help raise the funds required to run the BPS and in part financing some of the costs involved in getting the team over to Ireland, and so any assistance you can offer in the way of prizes will be gratefully received.

The Top 10 anglers selected from this 2-day event, will represent Great Britain against Ireland on Irish soil at the beginning of October 2012.

Please note that due to the nature of the fishing and distances to be covered combined with steep banks in places, that this match does not favour those with disabilities. You are still more than welcome to come along and compete at your own risk, but be aware of the problems to be faced. Whether this is your first time attending the Selection Final, or one of many, we look forward to seeing you there in September for a few beers in the hotel in the evening, some great banter and friendship – oh yes I almost forgot! - hopefully some superb fishing.
